Collaboration of Care

Clients make the most meaningful progress when the people supporting them are working toward the same goals.

At A Better Approach, collaboration is not an afterthought — it’s part of how we design services. We coordinate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, physicians, and schools to help ensure strategies remain consistent across environments.

Why Collaboration Matters

Skills are more likely to generalize and maintain when they are supported by the adults and professionals involved in a person’s daily life.

Collaboration helps:

  • reinforce communication strategies across settings

  • support consistent expectations

  • reduce conflicting approaches between therapies

  • strengthen independence and long-term outcomes

Our goal is to make support feel connected — not fragmented.

A Shared Plan — Not Separate Services

When therapy providers communicate openly, children benefit from clearer expectations and stronger progress across environments.

With caregiver permission, we coordinate with members of your child’s care team to ensure:

  • treatment goals complement one another

  • strategies remain consistent

  • transitions between settings feel predictable

  • families receive unified guidance

Collaboration helps turn separate services into one coordinated plan.

Collaboration With Therapy Providers

We regularly coordinate care with:

  • Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs)

  • Occupational Therapists (OTs)

  • Physical Therapists (PTs)

Rather than relying only on written updates, we prioritize direct discussion of treatment plans when appropriate and with caregiver consent. This allows providers to align strategies and adjust supports in real time.

When possible, outside providers may deliver services within our clinic so children can receive coordinated care in one familiar setting.

If your child does not yet have a therapy provider, we are happy to help families identify trusted options in the community.

Supporting Families in the School Setting

School is one of the most important environments for skill development.

Our team collaborates with families navigating school supports by:

  • reviewing school-based recommendations with caregivers

  • helping interpret evaluation results

  • coordinating strategies across home, clinic, and classroom expectations

  • participating in ARD meetings alongside families when appropriate

We believe families should feel informed and supported throughout the educational planning process.
